Jena – Why should there be equality when it comes to who we objectify? Hetero men objectify women, not other men. And hetero women objectify men, just by different standards – standards appropriate to the gender. So we’re all objectifying the opposite sex, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see individuals as human beings. And while there may be a smattering of famous women who supported feminist causes, the original poster’s point still stands. The vast majority of famous women and models do not support feminist causes. Indeed, feminism has become an anachronism. And one other thing: while objectifying may often be a first step in justifying violence, violence is not a necessary result of objectifying. When was the last time I looked at a gorgeous woman and wanted to hurt her? Quite the opposite as most women get special treatment for being beautiful. Which brings us back to the original premise – that feminists are unattractive women who resent the special treatment given their better looking counterparts.
